A smoothing machine is provided in which both sides of a groove are machined by a single tool without changing the direction of movement of a piston. The smoothing machine has: a tip (10) configured to press and machine a machining surface (4); and a pressurizing unit (30) configured to press the tip (10) against the work surface (4), the pressurizing unit (30) comprising: a piston (31) configured to be in a direction orthogonal to the tip (10) reciprocatingly, a cylinder portion (32) housing the piston (31) so that the piston (31) reciprocates; and a pressurizing mechanism (33) configured to push the tip (10) against the work surface (4) and to pull the tip (10) against the work surface (4) at both times ) by causing the piston (31, 61, 131) to reciprocate.
