The invention relates to a wind tunnel-based flow simulator which makes it possible to simulate controlled flow conditions that come close to the real ski jump and to detect the flow forces acting on the ski jumper largely without interference. The flow simulator comprises a flow section running along a longitudinal axis (5) with a nozzle (3), an open measuring section (1.1) and a collecting funnel (4). In the middle of the measuring section (1.1) there is a receiving unit (6) for holding the ski jumper (7), which is connected to a measuring unit for recording the flow forces acting on the ski jumper (7). The measuring section (1.1) is surrounded by a measuring chamber (1) which, at the position of the receiving unit (6), has an area transverse to the longitudinal axis (5) of the flow section which has at least three times the cross-sectional area of the nozzle (3). The flow simulator is particularly suitable for optimizing performance in top-class sports.
