Steel for a crankshaft and a method of manufacturing a crankshaft using the same, the steel for a crankshaft comprising: 0.37 to 0.42% by weight of carbon (C), 0.55 to 0.70% by weight of silicon (Si), 1.45 to 1.65% by weight manganese (Mn), 0.025% by weight or less (excluding 0% by weight) phosphorus (P), 0.020 to 0.035% by weight sulfur (S), 0.15 to 0.30% by weight of chromium (Cr), 0.035 to 0.055% by weight of vanadium (V), and the rest of iron and other unavoidable impurities. The steel for a crankshaft has a strength that is maintained high even when the amount of vanadium is reduced.
