Device (1) for conveying a fluid from a container (2), the device (1) comprising: - a follower plate (6) movable in the container (2) with a ventilation opening (7) and with a throughflow opening (8) for the fluid, whereby fluid can be conveyed through the flow opening (8) from the container (2) by means of a feed pump (9) and the follower plate (6) can be moved in the direction of a container bottom (3); - an adjusting device (10) for movement the follower plate (6) in the container (2) in the direction of the container base (3), the actuating device (10) comprising at least one double-acting cylinder (11) in which a piston (12) between a first piston chamber (13) and a second piston chamber (14) is displaceable, wherein the follower plate (6) is movable via a piston rod (15) connected to the piston (12); - a valve device (20) for controlling the pressure in the first piston chamber (13) and the second piston chamber (14) and for pressurization and venting The container (2) is fed through the ventilation opening (7) in the follower plate (6), the valve device (20) having the following: - a first, manually operated valve (21) for venting the container (2) and for providing a control pressure for a third, pneumatically operated valve (24); - a second, manually operated valve (22) for optionally pressurizing or venting the first piston chamber (13) and the second piston chamber (14); and a third, pneumatically operated valve (24) which receives an output of the first, manually operated valve (21) as a control pressure; wherein the first and the second valve (21, 22) are coupled in such a way that they can be operated together.
