A method for noise reduction in a three-dimensional computed tomography data set, which is reconstructed from two-dimensional projection images recorded with an x-ray device (5), in particular a C-arm x-ray device (5), using different recording geometries, with one after the reconstruction of the computed tomography data set (S) following post-processing section - a first, edge-preserving filter is applied to the reconstructed computed tomography data set (S) to obtain a first intermediate data set (Z1), - a second, morphological filter is applied to the reconstructed computed tomography data set (S) to obtain a second intermediate data set (Z2), - a first weighting data set (W) weighting more strongly edges is determined from a subtraction data set (D) of the first and second intermediate data sets (Z1, Z2), and - a noise-reduced result data set (E) as a weighted sum of the first Zwi schendata sets (Z1) and the second intermediate data set (Z2) is determined, the first intermediate data set (Z1) being weighted with the first weighting data set (W) and the second intermediate data set (Z2) with one minus the first weighting data set (W), - where the noise-reduced computed tomography data set (E, EZ) is determined as or from the result data set (E).
