Method and device for monitoring a control signal for one or more signal processing components of a control system that consume the control signal, taking into account a signal accuracy. Both the control signal and an accuracy signal are received by a signal generation component, the accuracy signal representing a signal accuracy of the control signal. The accuracy signal is monitored based on an accuracy requirement and the accuracy requirement is adjusted for or during operation.
