The invention relates to a variable valve drive with a camshaft, the camshaft having a sliding cam piece arranged axially displaceably on a shaft of the camshaft, the shaft being passed through the sliding cam piece and the sliding cam piece being connected to the shaft in a torsionally rigid manner. For the torsionally rigid connection of the sliding cam piece to the shaft, a guide element guided in a recess in the shaft is provided in the axial direction, the guide element being fixed in a receptacle of the sliding cam piece.
