Optical detection of skin and tissue reactions using spectroscopy

A device for measuring the optical response of the skin comprises one or more lighting sources which are configured to radiate light directly onto the skin or tissue, each lighting source being configured to provide light within a predetermined range of optical wavelengths. The device further comprises one or more spectrometers, each spectrometer comprising a plurality of interference filters overlying one or more optical sensors, each of the spectrometers having a detection range within a predetermined range of optical wavelengths and being configured to capture light emerging from the skin or emitted to the tissue. Each of the one or more spectrometers of the device is arranged at a predetermined distance from at least one illumination source of the one or more illumination sources.
