A process for preparing a solid bitumen material at room temperature, said process comprising at least the steps of: a) preparing a stabilized emulsion of bitumen drops in an aqueous phase having a pH of 2 to 4, b) preparing a silica sol or a silica gel from a first precursor of silicon oxide at pH ranging from 2 to 4, c) mineralize the emulsion of bitumen drops from step a), with the sol or the silica gel from step b), d) mineralize the emulsion of bitumen drops resulting from step c) at pH less than or equal to 1 with a second precursor of silicon oxide, e) separate the material from the aqueous phase.
