In a process for the separation of a synthesis gas (1,5) containing hydrogen, carbon monoxide, the synthesis gas is cooled in a heat exchanger (E), partially condensed and sent to a first separator phases (9) to produce a hydrogen-enriched gas (7) and a hydrogen-depleted liquid (11), the hydrogen-depleted liquid is sent at least partly to the top of a stripping column (13), at least part of the bottom liquid (17) from the stripping column vaporizes at least partially in the heat exchanger and a product enriched in carbon monoxide (15) is derived from at least part of the bottom liquid from the exhaustion column.
