The invention relates to a safety system for the operator by lack of energy braking for an industrial truck with driver accompanying by a heat engine. A mechanism that can be actuated manually and mounted on the drawbar (41) enables the carriage to be released by action on a hydraulic master cylinder before initiating a translational movement. A safety bar (42) recalled by a spring via a bar (43) destroys the brake release action in the event of contact with the operator. This set is completed by an arrangement of microswitches taking into account the position of the control lever not engaged and the hydraulic pressure of the brake release circuit to prevent the starting of the carriage motor when a movement control is engaged. The device according to the invention is capable of being used on a handling trolley with an accompanying driver driven by a heat engine or by any other mobile machine by an accompanying operator.
