Method of controlling a lighting projector (10) of an open-air sports field (20), from among a plurality of available sports fields, the sports fields being suitable for allowing the landing of a helicopter during an intervention, the projector (10) being connected to an electrical supply box (30), the method being characterized in that it consists in: choosing the sports field (20) located closest to intervention - activate the lighting from a remote terminal (40) from the sports field (20) using a module (50) connected with the electrical supply box (30) and able to communicate with the terminal remote (40). The invention also relates to a device for implementing said method, the device comprising a terminal (40) remote from the sports grounds and a plurality of control modules, each module (50) comprising at least one ignition relay ( 51) capable of electrically supplying the projector (10) via the power supply box (30) and a unit (52) for controlling the relay (51) capable of communicating with the remote terminal (40).
