The invention relates to a coating of a piece of metallic refractory alloy by chemical vapor diffusion, the metallic refractory alloy, comprising the following steps: - placing a mixture of powders in an enclosure, - immersing the piece at least partially in the mixture of powders and - applying a heat treatment to the part, the mixture of powders comprising at least a first component and at least a second component, the first component and the second component forming a gaseous compound during the treatment step thermal so as to favor the deposition of the second component on the part, the second component being intended to form a second alloy by solid diffusion with at least one metallic species of the metallic refractory alloy so as to generate a coating, the method being characterized in that the second generates a passivating oxide layer when subjected to oxidizing conditions.
