A device for the backlighting of a liquid crystal matrix of a flat screen display in daytime or night vision mode with NVIS compatibility comprises a light guide GL which comprises a main form of right pad PP assembled at least an auxiliary prism PA1 with a right-angled triangle base which comprises at least one reflecting face, and which is arranged with the main block to define on the same lateral face of the block, two distinct injection windows, an injection window 11 for a source night lighting and an injection window I2 for a daytime light source.
