The invention relates to a method for generating a digital model of application member, the application member comprising a core (10) along an axis (X). and a row of patterns (19) each comprising an application element (18, 18a; 18b), the method comprising: calculating an intersection curve (32) of a helical surface (30) and of an envelope surface (S, S1), the calculation of the patterns (19), each pattern (19) being a replica, at a given position, of a reference pattern (19r) displaced helically along the helical surface (30) d '' a reference position to the given position along the axis (X) so that its distal end (20d) follows the intersection curve (32), the reference pattern (19r) extending in a volume delimited by the envelope surface (S) and having its end (20d) on the intersection curve (32), and the recording of the digital model generated in an info memory rmatic.
