The invention relates to the analysis of complex mixtures, in particular of complex mixtures of hydrocarbon molecules such as mixtures of hydrocarbons, in particular by mass spectrometry coupled with at least one isomeric characterization technique, and more specifically the classification of these mixtures. The present invention uses a statistical processing of spectrometric data reflecting the isomeric dispersion to identify characteristic parameters (or markers) of one or more organic molecules. Knowledge of these characteristic parameters for particular organic molecules can then be used for the analysis of mixtures of unknown origin. Figure for the abstract: figure 3
