The present invention relates to an opening for a joinery intended to equip a building opening, which opening (3) comprises longitudinal members (33) defining a rebate (36) receiving a border (351) of a filling (35). The side members (33) have walls (6, 7, 8, 9) formed by at least one structural section (5), namely two side walls (6, 7) and two front walls (8, 9). A first front wall (8) of at least one of the longitudinal members (33), advantageously located on the exterior side of the building, is divided transversely by at least one front notch (85); said at least one front notch (85) extends over the entire width of said first front wall (8).
