The invention is a restraint device which allows the mechanical immobilization of a large number of insects without using strong mechanical pressure and without anesthetizing them. It allows handling and direct access to all parts of an insect's body without requiring additional maneuvers. The insect restraint does not expose the handler to the risks of direct contact, bite or sting and does not cause physical trauma or death of the insect. The device of this invention is composed of a compartment 1 (capture compartment) connected to a compartment 2 (squeeze cage) (fig.5). The insect (20) captured in compartment 1 is pushed back to compartment 2 by the disc (9) which enters through the slot (5) and runs along the slot (6), like a piston, thanks to the crank (8 ) sliding along the length of the rod (7). By pushing the frame (15) towards the frame (13), the insect (20) is caught in a vice and immobilized between the retaining wires (16) and (14). Compartment 1 is detached from compartment 2, the dorsal and ventral parts of the insect (20) are directly exposed to handling. When the operation is complete, the insect (20) leaves the containment cage 2 by removing the frame (16) from compartment 2 using the bar (19). Abstract drawing: Figure 5
