The invention relates to a method of performing work at height with a selected carbon emission rate, comprising the steps of: determining, for different work-at-height equipment, a manufacturing-related TF carbon emission rate, a usage-related TU carbon emission rate, a storage-related TS carbon emission rate and a carbon emission TR linked to recycling; - enter a unit for calculating a distance D between a place where work at height equipment is stored and a place for work at height; - calculate via the calculation unit, for each of the equipment, a total TX carbon emission rate; - compare the calculated TX total carbon emission rates.
