An oil insulated connector for connecting module housings together, the connector comprising; first 4 and second 3 spaced apart electrically insulating end faces at least partially defining a cavity 6 between; each end face having an aperture 9 extending through for receiving an electrical conductor 10. The cavity is filled with an electrically insulating oil. The electrical conductor may be high voltage, which can cause a discharge in any voids between module housings due to the high electric field; the oil in the cavity is provided to prevent discharge and so avoid electrical breakdown. Preferably the end faces define a toroidal cavity. The dielectric oil may be in a cavity which surrounds the conductor (6, figure 2) and two electrical conductors may connect (14) within the oil filled cavity. A pressure equalisation mechanism (figure 7) may be connected between the oil filled chamber 6 and a gas filled volume to maintain the oil pressure within the cavity to the gas pressure in the gas filled volume.
