A projection system for projecting an indicator to provide a visible representation of at least a portion of a target route can include a light source operable to emit light and image forming means for forming the indicator. The projection system can include a processor for controlling the image forming means. The processor can be configured to determine a target route and, based on the determined target route, to control the image forming means to control the light emitted from the light source to form the indicator.
