A fuel injector (10, Fig. 1) is provided with an electromagnetic actuator assembly (12, Fig. 2) wherein, a solenoid 56 wound around a pole piece 60 fixed to the actuator body cooperates with a magnetic armature 58 fixed to a nozzle needle (46, Fig. 2) guided in the nozzle body, wherein the pole piece is axially inserted in an upper chamber and is press-fitted with interference against a cylindrical inner face 74 of the wall of the actuator body.
