A valve for restricting the flow of fluid

A throttle idle control valve 103 for restricting the flow of fluid into the crankcase. The valve has an outer part 201 which defines a first port 202 and second port 203, both allowing fluid to flow through the valve, and a first sealing surface 204 surrounding the first port. The valve also has an inner part 213 which defines a first passageway 214 to allow fluid to flow between the first and second ports, a number of second passageways 401 also enabling fluid to flow between the first and second ports, and a second sealing surface 215 surrounding an end of the first passageway. The inner part is moveable between two positions, the first is where the first and second sealing surfaces are in contact to prevent fluid flow through the second passageways, and the second being where the sealing surfaces are not in contact so as to create a gap 301 for fluid to flow through the second passageways. The first and second ports may be collinear, and the inner part may be urged towards the first position by a spring means, which may include a helical spring.
