A connection element 1, e.g. a ball joint or a bearing element, comprises a first ring 3 and a second ring 2, that rotate relative to one another about an axis X1. The first ring 3 comprising a contact portion 3-1 with a contact surface 9 interacting with the second ring 2. A fastening portion 3-2, e.g. a radially extending flange 11, is fixed to an outer surface 8 of the first ring 3 and rigidly secures the connection element to a support. The contact portion 3-1 is made of a first material, such as bronze, steel, cobalt alloy, titanium alloy, nickel alloy, and the fastening portion 3-2 is made of a second material, such as titanium alloy, aluminium alloy, nickel alloy, different to the first material. The first material having a hardness greater than that of the second material, and the second material having a structural fatigue strength greater than that of the first material. Reference is also made to a method of producing the first ring 3 using powder material and 3D printing.
