An elongate label comprises a back sheet 15, a leaflet 17 secured to the front surface of the back sheet and a laminate layer 30. The leaflet has a front sheet 18 which extends from a first transverse edge 19 to a second transverse edge. The laminate layer has an extended part 33 projecting beyond the second transverse edge to a free edge 36. The extended part has a transverse line of weakness 35 in the vicinity of the second transverse edge and which is spaced from the free edge by a lengthwise distance of at least the length of the front sheet of the label, i.e. about mid-way along the length of the laminate layer. When applied so as to wrap around a container, the extended part 33 overlies the already laminated leaflet and access to the inside of the leaflet is not possible except by severing the line of weakness 35. The extended part may have a widened portion (Fig. 6) so that the edges of the leaflet are protected from damage and/or fluid ingress when the label is applied around a container.
