A thermal insulation pad 1 for attachment between a bracket 6 and substructure in a building cladding assembly comprises a thermal insulation material and at least one spacing member for limiting compression of the thermal insulation material during use. The pad may be a fibrous material or may be aerogel and the spacing member may be an array of ceramic beads embedded in the pad through a friction fit in an aperture through the pad. A cardboard sleeve or a plastics adaptor 15 may be provided to engage the pad 1 to the bracket 6.
