An enclosure 100 for charging an item of smart clothing 510 having a plurality of battery-powered sensors 500 comprises a cavity 120 for receiving the item of smart clothing 510, a charging interface 112 configured to deliver an electromagnetic field into the cavity 120 to charge the plurality of battery-powered sensors 500, a wireless communications interface 116 for transmitting and receiving data to and from the plurality of sensors 500, and a processor 110 configured to control operation of the charging interface 112 and the communications interface 116. The processor 110 may download data from the sensors 500 during charging and communicate with a remote system over a telecommunications network 600 to pair the sensors to an account. The enclosure 10 may comprise a conductive mesh or foil to inhibit leakage of electromagnetic energy, and may be collapsible for ease of storage. It may be configured to hang from a hook or clothes rail.
