PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for rapidly and precisely discriminating between germs, viruses, mixture thereof, and uninfected patients.SOLUTION: The present invention relates to a kit including an antibody for determining the concentration of polypeptide of a TNF-related apoptosis-inducing ligand (TRAIL) in a living cell. The kit is used for differentiating a state of being infected with germs or viruses from a noninfected state, and detects the state of being infected with germs or viruses by finding that the concentration of polypeptide in the TRAIL in the living cell represents a statistical significant difference from a reference value for the TRAIL polypeptide concentration in the group of healthy persons.SELECTED DRAWING: None
