It is an object to produce a metal titanium material in which a crystalline titanium oxide film is formed on the surface. The titanium material in which a crystalline titanium oxide film is formed on this surface is a material useful as a photocatalyst material exhibiting high function, a material for a photoelectric conversion element, an abrasion-resistant member, and an edible oil deterioration preventing member. A method for producing a titanium material in which a crystalline titanium oxide film is formed on a surface, comprising: (1) a step of roughening the surface of the titanium material to form a roughened material, (2) a titanium compound on the surface of the roughened material The step of forming, (3) anodizing the material on which the titanium compound is formed on its surface, and forming the amorphous titanium oxide film, and (4) the material on which the amorphous titanium oxide film is formed on the surface, are in an atmospheric atmosphere.
