PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique that makes it possible to evaluate a smell with an olfactory receptor in the presence of olfactory mucus without collecting olfactory mucus from an animal or adding an enzyme.SOLUTION: The present invention provides a method of evaluating the responsiveness of an olfactory receptor to a smell substance, including the steps of obtaining a composition comprising the smell substance generated by the contact of a smell substance with a cell or its conversion product, and bringing the composition into contact with an olfactory receptor.SELECTED DRAWING: None
