The present invention relates to a dental prosthetic molding block (10) for manufacturing a dental prosthetic portion. The block comprises an inner material 13 at least partially surrounded by an outer material 14, the hardness of which is different from the hardness of the inner material 13. The inner material 13 forms part of the first surface 11 of the dental prosthetic molding block 10. The invention also relates to a method for manufacturing a dental prosthetic part. In this method, a dental prosthetic molding block 10 is provided, and the dental prosthetic portion is manufactured by removing material from the dental prosthetic molding block 10 using a CAD/CAM process. By doing so, a pin with a self-tapping external screw thread is created.
