Composition for promoting growth of oral microbial community and method of using the same

Disclosed is a method of treating an allergic respiratory disease by promoting the growth of necessary microbial groups in the oral cavity of a subject. The method comprises providing an edible composition comprising an amino acid component containing L-arginine, the composition being contained in the subject's oral cavity and partially soluble in the subject's oral cavity. The composition is held in the mouth for a period of time of at least about 10 seconds to 1 hour each day, and lasts for at least 2 days. [Selection diagram] None
