PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide wear resistance coatings in a hard material layer systems in which a surface functionality that is stable over the long period of time for components and tools which are exposed to high temperature of 400°C or more during use is secured and the wear and tear of the components and tools are improved.SOLUTION: A coating has top smear layers with the compositions such as Mo-Si-B or Mo-Cu-N or Mo-N. The top smear layer contains at least 95 atom% of molybdenum. The layer thickness of the top smear layer is between 0.25 μm and 1.5 μm.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
