Dynamic color determination for video player user interface components

The user interface adaptation module identifies the dominant color of the frame of the video and generates a color for the component of the user interface on which the video is displayed based on the dominant color. The color of the user interface component is set based on the generated color and based on context information such as the video playback state. Such component color settings allow the user interface to be adjusted to complement both the played and video content of the video. In one embodiment, the dominant colors are identified by segmenting the individual pixels of the frame based on their respective colors. In one embodiment, a set of primary color variants is generated based on the dominant color, and a different color is generated for each type of user interface component based on the color variants of the various primary colors.
