The invention particularly relates to the additive manufacturing of a piece (300) of metal having a low thermal conductivity, by robotic arc welding with material supply by welding wire, by successive deposition of layers (310), using a device comprising a movable welding torch provided with an infusible electrode and a contact tube configured to guide the welding wire. An electric current supplied to the electrode causes and maintains an electric arc (315) between the electrode and the workpiece being manufactured, allowing the formation of a melt (320) at a surface point of the workpiece. The welding wire is supplied via the contact tube to the surface point of the part comprising the melt. A partial melting of the welding wire takes place in contact with the melt protected by an inerting gas.
