A method for the production of viral hemagglutinin (HA) protein using microalgae. A method for producing a full-length influenza HA protein as a vaccine using a recombinant microalgal cell containing a nucleic acid molecule containing a polynucleotide sequence encoding a viral HA protein including an HA membrane domain and an active regulatory control element. A method for producing a viral HA protein, wherein the microalgal cell belongs to the genus Schizochytrium or Thraustochytrids and the recombinant microalga is cultured in the medium so that the HA protein is secreted into the medium. A method for preparing a vaccine composition using the recombinant viral protein as an influenza protein, wherein the protein is used as a vaccine composition. [Selection diagram] None
