SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR HIGH DEFINITION AND HIGH RESOLUTION TOMOGRAPHY FOR USE IN GENERATING SPEED MODELS AND REFLECTIVITY IMAGES

A system and method is provided for determining an image based on broadband high definition reflectivity for a geographic area of interest (GAI). The system and method generate a conventional reflectivity image based on the seismic data acquired for the GAI, generate a high frequency (HF) velocity model of the GAI based on the acquired seismic data, convert the HF velocity model to a low frequency reflectivity image (LF), and adaptively merge the LF reflectivity image with the conventional reflectivity image to form the wideband HD reflectivity image of the GAI.
