Virtual reality training, simulation, and collaboration in robotic surgery systems

Described herein are virtual reality systems that provide a virtual robotic surgical environment and methods for using the virtual reality systems. Within a virtual reality system, different user modes allow different types of interaction between a user and a virtual robotic surgical environment. For example, one variation of a method for facilitating navigation of a virtual robotic surgical environment is to display a first person view of the virtual robotic surgical environment from a first perspective point and from a second perspective point. And displaying a second window view of the virtual robotic surgical environment from the third viewpoint point. Additionally, in response to a user input that associates the first and second window views, the first and second window views are serially linked to provide a link between the second viewpoint and the third viewpoint.
