Described herein are virtual reality systems that provide a virtual robotic surgical environment and methods for using the virtual reality systems. Within a virtual reality system, different user modes allow different types of interaction between a user and a virtual robotic surgical environment. For example, one variation of a method for facilitating navigation of a virtual robotic surgical environment is to display a first person view of the virtual robotic surgical environment from a first perspective point and from a second perspective point.
