The shaving system (10) may also include a processor (46) configured to receive measurement data from the sensor (38, 47, 48, 56, 62) and to at least one of identify and quantify the at least one skin characteristic based one the received measurement data. The shaving system (10) may further include a display (30) configured to convey a message to the user based on skin characteristic data from the processor (46).
