This application discloses an imaging apparatus and an imaging method. The imaging apparatus includes a photographing apparatus, a light splitting apparatus, a plurality of sensors, and an image processing apparatus. The light splitting apparatus is disposed on an emergent surface of the photographing apparatus, and is configured to split, into light transmitted from a plurality of emergent surfaces, light transmitted from the photographing apparatus into the light splitting apparatus. The plurality of sensors are disposed on a plurality of emergent surfaces of the light splitting apparatus, and are configured to generate preprocessed images. The image processing apparatus is connected to the plurality of sensors, and is configured to fuse a plurality of preprocessed images to obtain an output image. The imaging apparatus provided in this application requires only one exposure to achieve fusion of images corresponding to a plurality of components to obtain a wide-dynamic-range image. Compared with a prior-art multi-exposure manner, inherent disadvantages of ghost and blur existing in a fused image obtained in the multi-exposure manner are effectively resolved, and a problem of low light performance of a composite image obtained through multi-exposure is avoided.
