A method for forming an adsorptive carbonaceous shaped body and shaped green body and adsorptive carbonaceous bodies obtained therefrom A method for forming an adsorptive carbonaceous shaped body comprising the following steps: a) providing an extrudable composition comprising a carbon precursor containing a halogenated polymer having a melting point and 0.1 to 8 wt%, based on the weight of the carbon precursor, of a processing aid selected from polysaccharides, polysaccharide derivatives, polyalkylene oxides, polyalkylene oxide derivatives, polyvinyl alcohol or polyvinyl alcohol derivatives or mixtures thereof, b) extruding the composition of step a) through a die to obtain a shaped green body, c) drying the product obtained in step b) and d) causing the pyrolysis of the halogenated polymer in the green body obtained in step c).
