The unit (1) has a housing (2) for accommodating a controlling and evaluation unit, and a sensor electrode coupled with the evaluation unit for detecting capacitance change of the sensing electrode during contactless operation of a door by an user. The sensor electrode is arranged on a flexible carrier (4) and designed as an electrically conductive conductor structure e.g. annular conductor or foil, where the sensor electrode is deformed with the flexible carrier. The flexible carrier extends partially at an outer side of the housing with the sensor electrode.
