The invention relates to a gas scrubber for flue gas desulfurization equipped with flue gas inlet, flue gas outlet, one or more spraying devices for spraying a liquid absorption agent based on suspensions containing calcium compounds, and liquid outlet,and one or more spaced apart exchanger planes for providing exchanger surfaces for contacting the flue gas passing through the scrubber with the liquid absorbent,wherein the at least one exchanger level is arranged substantially horizontally aligned in the gas scrubber,according to the inventionthe respective exchanger plane has one or more regions with a plurality of passages for the passage of the flue gas and the liquid absorbent, at least part of these passage regions being formed by single-layered horizontally oriented grid elements (7);the respective grid element (7) has a grid floor (17) consisting of a single-layer arrangement of a plurality of vertically aligned flat longitudinal ribs and a plurality of vertically aligned flat transverse ribs.
