A method for cutting a watch crystal (1) along a contour (2) in a plate (3) of a transparent material comprises: a step of forming a first cut line or a kerf (5) on a first side (4) of the plate (3) to form a first chamfer (1) for each crystal (1) of the plate (3); a step of flipping the plate (3) and marking the position of the first chamfers (6) or a previously machined marking (14); a step of forming a second cut line or a kerf (8) on a second side (4) to form a second chamfer (9) for each crystal (1); and a step of separating the crystals (1) by machining through the plate (3) at each contour (2) to form an edge (11) of the crystal (1).
