The present invention relates to a video door entry system comprising at least one access station having a video acquisition unit of the analog type, adapted to acquire an image displayed by a calling person, at least one receiving station and a communication channel between the access station and the receiving station. The receiving station comprises means for the analog-digital conversion of the analog signals acquired by said video acquisition unit, digital data processing means for generating digital data corresponding to the image displayed by the calling person and storage means for storing digital data corresponding to default images. The receiving station further comprises comparison means adapted to compare the digital data in output from the processing means with the digital data of the storage means and the means for generating a signal with the outcome of the comparison made by the comparison means.
