Verfahren zur Herstellung einer hydrophilen optischen Beschichtung, bei dem eine hydrophile Mischschicht (2) in einem Vakuumbeschichtungsprozess durch Ko-Verdampfung eines hydrophilen organischen Materials und eines anorganischen Matrixmaterials hergestellt wird, wobei die hydrophile Mischschicht (2) Materialdomänen des hydrophilen organischen Materials und des anorganischen Matrixmaterials aufweist, wobei das hydrophile organische Material Cellulose, Celluloseacetat, Celluloseacetat-propionat, Celluloseacetat-phalat, Celluloseacetat-butyrat oder eine andere auf Celluloseacet basierende Verbindung, Polyvinylalkohol (PVA), Polyvinylpyrrolidon (PVP), Poly(ethylene-alt-maleic anhydride) (PEMA), Poly(N-isopropylacrylamid),acrylic-acid-terminated (PNIPAM-COOH) oder einen Aminozucker aufweist.
