'En alta voz al pueblo': Manipulación y melodrama en los discursos radiofónicos presentes en las novelas 'Lost City Radio' (2007) y 'Pantaleón y las visitadoras' (1973)

The present paper focuses on the representation of radio in two the novels Pantaleón y las visitadoras by Mario Vargas Llosa and Lost City Radio by Daniel Alarcón. In both texts the radio represents and introduces a powerful and manipulative voice whose presence, according to the hypothesis, permits both texts to present melodramatic characteristics. Nevertheless, this melodramatic aspect does not minimize their literary quality but, in fact, renders a contribution to the multiplicity of voices which converts a text into literature.
