Remarques sur trois témoins des sermons Sur la Genèse de Jean Chrysostome (Monacensis gr. 352, Sinaiticus gr. 376, Parisinus gr. 775)

The Greek text of John Chrysostom's In Genesim sermones {PG 54, 581-620) presents two series of additions, one in the Monacensis gr. 352 (1 lth cent.), the other in the Sinaiticus gr. 376 (11th cent.) and the Parisinus gr. 775 (15th cent.). We find these readings neither in the other Greek manuscripts, — none of which is earlier than the 9th century —, nor in the Armenian tradition which offers a very old translation of the sermons (5th or 6th cent.). The analysis of these additions shows that, although they are not literary improvements coming from the author's intervention, they are very interesting. In fact, they tend to emphasize several aspects of John Chrysostom's didactic manner, and so testify to the ancient reception of the Chrysostomian text.
