摘要

The name of the Sogdian god Txs'yc (Texsic) can be explained etymologically as meaning "The Recurrent, The One who will return". This epiclesis would be well in line with F. Grenet and B. Marshak's hypothesis that Texsic was the name under which the Babylonian god Tammuz was known in Sogdiana.
