YENI EKAWATI :udOne of the figurative languages mostly used by orators and writers isudmetaphor. A metaphor can create a very visual impact for the reader, so its use canudbe a very powerful tool. This study is restricted in identifying metaphors inudreference to the novel Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows with its Indonesianudversion.udBased on the problems formulated above the specific aims of the study that is toudfind out the data of metaphoric expressions and to analyze the strategy used byudtranslator in translating the metaphors in this translationbased on the theory statedudby Beekman and Callow (2004:119), and the researcher want to know theudresponse of participants in Listiana Srisanti’s translation in metaphor.udData were collected through library research by note taking the metaphorsudfound in the data source. Many examples of metaphorical expressions wereudcollected from the novel. Then, the collected data were analyzed by theoryudconcerned, such as identifying and analyzing the metaphors. The theory ofudBeekman and Callow (2004: 119) was applied theory of strategies used forudtranslating metaphors.udThe researcher found threetenmetaphoric expressions in Harry Potter andudthe Deathly Hallows at chapter twenty two. The other results showed that thereudare three strategies applied by the translator in translating metaphors in this study,udthey were translated into metaphors by keeping the metaphorical image, translatedudinto simile, and translated into non- figurative meaning with or without keepingudthe metaphorical imagery.
